Flight JASP 303 crashes in Edinburgh just before dawn, killing everyone on board. At the memorial service GARY BAMFORD, a sergeant in the parachute regiment, meets JILL PARKER for the first time in several years since he split acrimoniously with her sister CAROL PARKER, the aircraft’s co-pilot. Despite their differences, Jill asks Gary if he will help her prove that the crash was not caused through pilot error, as JASP Airlines and the aviation authorities are insisting. She has no proof – just the crash report and an inherent faith in her sister. Gary agrees to look into it and read the report and is quickly intrigued by a cockpit voice recording about a strange smell. He soon determines that the smell was probably from contaminated air; crew and passengers alike breathing air tainted by vaporised jet engine oil and neurotoxic chemicals that silently impair and incapacitate. As Gary and Jill slowly resolve their personal differences, Gary requires all his tenacity and military skills as they reveal a global problem that has been suppressed by the airline industry for decades. They find themselves in a race against time to prove one of the biggest cover-ups in aviation history before a coroner’s court can bury the truth and provide JASP with the much-needed ‘pilot error’ decision that will save the company. Long-standing grievances have to be set aside if they are to be successful – but can they work together, and find the truth they both want so badly? |
